Molest bid foiled

Imphal, January 14 2013: An auto-rickshaw driver who allegedly attempted to molest a 12 year old minor was rounded up by people of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai and handed over to police after some thrashing.

According to a source, auto-rickshaw driver Mayanglambam Premjit (22) s/o Gulapi of Kakching Khunou but staying at Tera Keithel was rounded up by people of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai near St Savio English Higher Secondary School.

Premjit allegedly kidnapped a 12 year old girl who is studying in Class VI in a Government school and brought her near St Savio English Hr Sec School where he reportedly attempted to assault the girl sexually.

But the attempt was foiled as people rushed in on hearing the girl's shouting.

The girl generally goes to school either in auto-rickshaw or other passenger vehicles.

As usual, she came to school today but it turned out to be holiday.

Then she headed for Imphal in Premjit auto-rickshaw.

Taking advantage of the girl's ignorance, Premjit simply drove around his vehicle before driving to Sinam Leikai.

After rounding up the accused, people handed him over to police while the girl was handed over to her parents.
