Anti-Leprosy observance begins

Imphal, January 31 2014 : To commemorate the Martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, which is observed as Anti-Leprosy Day, the observance of Anti-Leprosy Fortnight 2014 by District Leprosy Society, Imphal East was formally launched from yesterday at the office of Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East with Dr Somorjit Ningombam, District Leprosy Officer (DLO), Imphal East leading the gathering in paying floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.

The fortnight observance is being held under the theme 'Let us Fight Stigma and Discrimination against Leprosy' and it would feature awareness programme like group discussion, publicity campaign, drum beating, house to house campaign.
