MDO Ukhrul clarifies on malaria scare

Imphal, July 31 2011: District Malaria Officer, Ukhrul has clarified that the malaria scare sounded by Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association was a false information.

A medical team of Kasom Khullen PHC led by District Malaria Officer rushed to the border villages of Bungpun, Wanglee, Ashang Khullen, Khonglo, Manthouram Bungdung, Kasung, Kangkum, Punoram, Makan and Nambashi Khullen from July 27 to 29 to detect malaria cases.

In all, 97 blood slides were taken and tested for malaria but all samples tested negative except a few suspected viral fever cases, the press release claimed.

It also urged not to spread such unnecessary rumour in future.
