Issues of COVID-19 and drug menace highlighted

A public meeting was held today to discuss the issue of dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and to take a stand against the drug menace in the State at the community hall of Hiyangthang Tarahei Konjil Awang Leikai adhering to Covid SOPs.
In today's meeting, president of CADA, Hijam Priyokumar, president of United People's Front (UPF) Manipur, Nongthombam Rupachandra, secretary of Hiyangthang Tarahei Konjil Awang Leikai Masajid, Boyamayum Salaudin and former president of UPF Manipur, BM Yaima attended as the presidium members, said a press release by CADA.
Addressing the gathering, Nongthombam Rupachandra appealed all to strictly follow the Covid SOPs and protocol laid down by the competent authorities and stressed on the need to get vaccinated inorder to stay protected from COVID-19 and to contain its further spread.
BM Yaima emphasised on the need to tackle the drug menace in the State effectively amid the trying times of the dreaded pandemic which have impacted the people of the State greatly.
Talking about the worsening issue of drug abuse and the increasing number of drug users in the State, he urged all to collectively fight against the drug menace in association with CADA.
Speaking on the occasion, Hijam Priyokumar opined that using drugs also aids in spreading COVID-19 therefore the need of the hour is to fight against the dreaded virus and the drug menace in the State for the well being of the people.
He also lauded the initiative of the locals of the area in the fight against drug menace and stated that CADA will extend best possible help towards the cause.
AYUSH-64 tablets and face masks were also distributed to all the attendees, added the press release.
