Imphal, August 14 2015 :
Strongly condemning the 'act of atrocities' on Friday when an Ambulance driver was attacked by volunteers of JCILPS public curfew at Malom, Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL) General Headquarters has demanded an apology from the JCILPS within four days.
Signed by Secretary Information Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi GHQ, Haominsei Singson, the statement said that KKL was shocked at the arrogance of JCLIPS volunteers who did not even spare an Ambulance.
The incident happened at Malom Airport Road at around 1.30 pm when KKL Ambulance was stopped by the volunteers and pulled down the ambulance driver, who was luckily saved by two women who were at the vicinity of the incident.
The ambulance, which was on its way back from Raj Medicity in Imphal toward Churachandpur after dropping a patient, was badly smashed while windshields were vandalized, said the statement.
While admitting that the KKL GHQ had sent the Ambulance on a life saving mission to Raj Medicity with full acknowledgment of JCILPS announcement, the statement alleged that the "uncivilized act of disturbing/attacking a life saving ambulance" happened a day after the JCLIPS had announced that Medical cases will be exempted from the purview of the public curfew called by them.
The statement has also asked the reason for the act, which could be taken as communal and said that termed the JCILPS led movement as "barbaric" where the way of agitation is "unconstitutional and undemocratic" by nature.
KKL GHQ, in the statement demanded an apology from the JCLIPS within four days.
While warning the JCILPS for any untoward incident in the event of failure to tender an apology, the statement also expressed gratitude and thanked the two women for their humanitarian act of saving the driver's life.
