Imphal, February 06 2014:
The UKLF has categorically stated that political leaders of any political parties should be welcomed if they have a plan to visit Manipur.
"We are in a democratic country and personal or party affiliation is one thing but objecting the coming of a particular political leader for organizing a meeting is against democracy", said a press release issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary JM Thadou.
The proposed visit of Narendra Modi, the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate, to Imphal, should not be objected rather it should be welcome by all.
At the time of election, everyone is free to cast his/her vote for the candidates of their choice.
But opposing the coming and holding meeting by a particular political leader is not a healthy action.
"Instead of opposing, it should be taken as an opportunity to highlight our plights to those who are visiting our state", reads UKLF press statement.
The Indian National Congress party has been in power at the centre for the last many years and if there can be a change of rulers this time it is to be welcomed and accepted.
Normally one particular party ruling for a long period is not good in a country like India.
This is not only for the Congress party, but any political party can become the same if it reigns for a long period of time.
So change is the better option.
A good example can be seen in Saddam Hussein, the former ruler cum dictator of Iraq.
In his initial period of ruling he was not bad but he became almost anti-people in the end because he had been in power too long.
The same thing can happen to anybody, anywhere, it asserted.
During the long regime of the Congress party, high degree of sufferings and racial discrimination of the North East people in Delhi have been witnessed.
All the political issues of the North East ethnic groups have been neglected and kept pending without any solution in sight.
Indeed the congress party seem not so serious for the NE people as a whole.
"Now for the NE people, the change of rulers in Delhi seems pertinent.
Here BJP may be the better choice" it claimed.
