UNC lauds Mao Council; appeals SAPO

United Naga Council (UNC) appreciates the decision of the Mao Council for lifting indefinite economic blockade along NH-2 with immediate effect after the intervention by Naga Hoho, UNC and NPO Senapati on the issue of Dzukou Valley that had cropped up between the two Naga families in the recent past.
In a statement issued by UNC Information and Publicity Secretary S Milan, the civil body appealed the SAPO and Mao Council to reciprocate each other and refrain from aggravating the situation and to promote peace and harmony in the spirit of brotherhood and neighbourhood among the Naga brothers.
"Every Naga Villages shared traditional boundaries with neighbouring villages.
Traditional boundaries are respected and honoured till today since time immemorial and it is our bounden duty to uphold ones principle of traditional values and practices",he said.
Milan further appealed that any disputes arising within the Naga Family have to be settled through mutual trust traditionally without interference by others.
UNC alleged that Manipur State sponsored valley based civil societies should desist its interference in the internal affairs of the Naga family by imposing bandh/blockade in Naga areas in near future.
If such cases prevails the Government of Manipur should held responsible for any untoward incidents, UNC claimed.
UNC reminds that in the 3rd Naga Peoples' Convention (NPC) held at Tahamzam (Senapati) on July 1, 2010, they resolved severance of political ties with the communal Government of Manipur and demanded for Alternative Arrangement outside the Government of Manipur pending Indo-Naga political settlement was sought.
The civil body also informed that outsiders not to interfere in the affairs of the Naga family, Milan added.
