Textile development prog held

In a bid to promote handloom and handicraft products of the State, a programme "Schemes/Initiative of Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India for the development of decentralized powerloom sector in North Eastern region" was organised by the Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Kolkata, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India in association with the India Jute Industries' Research Association Powerloom Service Centre, Guwahati at the Classic Hotel today.
Speaking at the programme, Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Commissioner, Commerce & Industries, Govt of Manipur said that the State Government has started initiating various steps in order to promote the State's handloom and handicraft products both in National and international markets.

The State Government is also organising "Industrial Expo" from April 4 to April 10 this year and would be participated by all the North East States.
The event would showcase various handloom products under the banner "Made in Manipur", he added.
As part of the event, a beauty pageant "Jewel Queen" would be held by collaborating with renowned designers from Milan.
The beauty pagaent would focus on promoting various traditional attires of the North East States.
Today's programme was supported by M/s Kb Philanthropy 5, Imphal.
The programme was also attended by M Satyabhama Devi, president, Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers & Handicrafts Artisans CS Ltd.
