Man dies in suspicious manner

Imphal, July 11 2012:
A 50 years old man died suspiciously at his home located at Nongdam village under Lamlai PS in Imphal East district this morning around 7 .
Police source informed that Khaidem Subol (50) of Nongdam village died this morning reportedly due to injury he suffered in an assault.
Romi Tangkhul (22) and Chahong Ningboi (22) of neighbouring New Salem village have been summoned for interrogation regarding the incident though police did not testify the involvement of the duo in the case.
The dead body has been deposited at JNIMS morgue for post mortem examination while a case has been registered at Lamlai PS.
Meanwhile, source from the spot of the incident said the man complaint of ache in the chest to his wife before his death at around 5am.He was said to have a drink with one Sarat at the residence of Ibotomba at Nongpok Heirok
yesterday morning.
The three were later joined by Romi and Chahong of New Salem village.
Later in the evening, Subol, Romi and Chahong went to a nearby Agri farm for another round of drink.
Two youths of New Salem village joined them at the farm, making a party of five.
While they were drinking, the two youths of New Salem village started assaulting Subol on the pretext of being a theft who steals vegetables from New Salem.
Hearing the sound of the beating, two villagers of Nongda who were herding cattle pacified them and Subol returned home.
The family informed the police about the incident after they come to know about the assault.
At the same time, villagers of Nongdam pulled up the Romi and Chahong and handed them to the police.
Meanwhile, there has been no tension or enmity between the two neighbouring villages.
