Ukhrul denizens seek PM's intervention

Ukhrul, September 08 2014:
About 12507 people of Ukhrul have appended their signatures in an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking his intervention in the situation which has unfolded at Ukhrul.
A copy of the petition was submitted to the office of the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul.
The copy was received at around 4.30 pm by the Ukhrul DC and he assured the petitioners that he will forward the copy through proper channel immediately.
Acknowledged copy was also handed out to them.
In their plea, the petitioners urged that a Centrally constituted body conduct a judicial investigation into the police firing at the August 30 peace rally in which two civilians Ramkashing Vashi and Mayopam Ramrar were killed besides inflicting injuries on at least 35 others.
The second point demanded the immediate withdrawal of Manipur police commandos and Indian Reserved personnel from Ukhrul district.
