BJP bandh derails normal life

The 12-hour State-wide bandh clamped by BJP Manipur Pradesh against the arrest of their two MLAs affected normal life today.
Although the bandh was supposed to be effective from 6 am to 6 pm, it wound up at 1 pm following the release of the two MLAs.
On NH-2 from Singjamei bazar to Manipur University gate, bandh supporters blocked road by burning tyres at different localities.
A large number of BJP workers led by their president K Bhabananda imposed bandh at Keishampat junction.
At Thangmeiband, a large number of bandh supporters blocked DM College road at different areas including Khoyathong traffic point.
Although adequate security personnel were deployed at many places, almost all the shops and business establishments at Khwairamband bazar and petrol pumps in Imphal remained shut during the bandh.

All the schools, colleges and educational institutes located at greater Imphal also remained closed.
No inter-district passenger vehicles came to the State capital during the stir.
In Thoubal district as well, workers and leaders of different BJP Mandals imposed the bandh at different areas.
The bandh could be witnessed on different areas of NH-102, Langmeidong, Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel, Kakching Keithel, Yairipok Keithel, Bishnunaha, Yairipok Thongkha etc.
Police fired tear gas shells to disperse bandh supporters at Thoubal Yairipok Lamkhai.
People also staged a sit-in-protest against the arrest of two BJP MLAs at Wangkhem waiting shed.
