For Samridhi Jain, a non-Manipuri, who scored the highest mark in the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (AISSCE) conducted by the CBSE in the state, a determined mind for a specific target is the mantra for success notwithstanding the chaotic atmosphere surrounding the individual.
Scoring 94 percent in Commerce stream, Samridhi got more marks than the toppers of Science and Srts in the state whose results were declared on Monday.
"Though bandh, general strikes and other forms of agitations, a regular feature Manipur has been witnessing for years, have consistently disrupted the academic atmosphere, I keep on reading at home more hours then I ought to study during the school closure days," a gutsy Jain (17) said on Friday.
Eldest daughter of Sunil Sethi and Sangeeta Sethi and a student of Manipur Public School (MPS), Koirengei, the brilliant girl said that she always consulted her teachers whenever she faced difficulties in her lessons.
A resident of Thangal bazaar, Samridhi reportedly prepared 8-10 hours in a day and except for Mathematics, she did not go for private tuition.

Samridhi, who forefathers were born and brought up in Manipur, cleared her matriculation examination in first division from Nirmalabas school, Imphal under the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) .
Out of 100 marks each, she got 84 in English, 95 (Economics), 97 (Mathematics), 97 (Business studies), 95 (Accountancy) and 97 (Entrepreneurship) .
Samridhi, who wants to become a Chartered Accountant (CA), said she would pursue her further studies in a prominent commerce college in New Delhi.
"We will do our best to ensure my daughter achieves her targeted goal," quipped an elated Sunil Sethi.
On the poor performance of government schools in both standard X and XII examinations, a soft-spoken Samridhi opined that the failure could be overcome only when government makes an overall development to the institutions sincerely with the primary target to produce brilliant students.
MPS principal B Santoshkumar Sarma , while expressing happiness on Samridhi's feat, said the school achieved 96.5 pass percentage in all streams including science, arts and commerce this year.
"We will request chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, who is the chairman of MPS society for gracing a felicitation programme for the brilliant students," he said.
