Mortal remains of Oinam Kenegy who was killed in a bomb blast at the office of a student body inside Dhanamanjuri University campus last night would be claimed tomorrow.
The JAC formed in connection with the killing of Kenegy held a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren today and the two sides came to an understanding.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting held at the CM Secretariat, JAC co-convenor Moirangthem Premchand said that they put up four points before the Chief Minister.
The JAC demanded arrest of all the culprits involved in the bomb blast within 48 hours, payment of a fair ex-gratia to the bereaved family before the Shradha ceremony, appointment of the next of kin of the deceased to a Government job and installation of a statue of Kenegy inside DMU campus.
As the Chief Minister assured to translate these demands into action, the JAC agreed to claim the body of Kenegy, Premchand said.
Nonetheless, the JAC made it clear that it would launch different modes of agitation in association with student bodies and CSOs if their demands are not translated into action, he said.
