NCW to train 150 lady cops

New Delhi, November 23 2015:
The National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD&D), Ministry of Home Affairs is organizing a three day training for women police officers from November 23 to November 25 in New Delhi.
The event was jointly inaugurated by Lalitha Kumaramangalam, Chaiperson NCW, Rahdakhrishna Kini IPS, Spl DG ( BPR&D), Nirmal Kaur IG (Gi, BPR&D) and members of the Commission.
Over 50 participants from several States and Union Territories are participating in this training.
The training was conducted in view of the Criminal Amendment Act 2013 that specifies that offences against women shall be investigated by women police officers.
The National Commission for Women will be training 150 women police officer in 2015 and 2016 .
In a statement issued today, the NCW stated that this training is a pilot project for capacity building of women police officers, from the level of ASI to SP, who would be investigating officers in crimes against women.
The training will be conducted by domain experts covering topics like status of women in contemporary society, forensic science and crime investigation.
