The Government of India's quest for a solution to the Naga peace talks would bring Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Imphal on November 21.BJP National president JP Nadda too would take a two-day trip to the State starting from December 1.Even though no tentative programme has been given for the Union Home Minister's visit to Imphal, the State Government has received information from the Home Ministry that Amit Shah would land here on November 21.Sources informed that Amit Shah may hold talks with Chief Minister N Biren and his Council of Ministers, and elicit their opinions and suggestions towards bringing an amicable solution to the Naga peace talks.
As no tentative programme has been forwarded till date, it is not yet clear whether the Union Home Minister would meet leaders of civil society organisations or not.
The Chief Minister had on November 12 hinted that the Union Home Minister may be here anytime to get the side of the State Government's position on the decades old political talk between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India.
The Chief Minister had also made it clear that there is no question of the State Government changing its stand or compromising its position on the integrity of Manipur.
The Chief Minister had also reminded reporters during the November 12 meeting that the Centre has been told in no unambiguous term that any kind of infringement on the identity of Manipur would be tolerated.
Amit Shah had also assured a joint team of CSOs and political parties at New Delhi last year, that the Centre would listen to all stakeholders before inking a final deal with the NSCN (IM), the Chief Minister had recalled, while adding that the State Government has been urging the Centre to take all stakeholders into confidence before any final agreement is signed.
On the other hand, the State Government has already received a tentative programme about BJP National president JP Nadda's visit to the State.
BJP Manipur Pradesh may hold a meeting on November 21 about JP Nadda's tentative programme, said the sources.
In addition to congratulating the BJP State unit for capturing four out of five Assembly seats which went to by-polls recently, JP Nadda may discuss about strengthening the party's organisational structure and the coalition Government.
The BJP National president would hold meetings with Chief Minister N Biren and his Council of Ministers.
If leaders of civil society organisations, student bodies and women organisations wish to meet JP Nadda, they may be given an opportunity, said the sources.
After wrapping up his trip to Imphal, JP Nadda would leave for Nagaland in the afternoon of December 2, the sources added.
