Non-BJP, Congress common candidates likely

Political parties which have their offices in the State barring Congress and BJP are likely to field common candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
JD (U), CPI, CPI(M), All India Forward Bloc, RSP, JD (S), Shiv Sena, BSP and NCP held a joint meeting this afternoon, informed a source.
As agreed in the meeting, common Lok Sabha candidates for these parties would be announced at the Statehood Square on January 21, the date Manipur attained Statehood.
The meeting examined minutely credentials and prospects of four persons who applied for nomination as common candidates.
Dr M Nara of CPI and C Doungel figured prominently during discussion of possible common candidates, added the source.
