Scribes from ASEAN countries in NE region

A total of 20 journalists from ASEAN countries and a representative from ASEAN Secretariat are on a familiarization visit to India.
ASEAN Secretariat had recommended that the journalists visit North East India and accordingly the journalists visited North Eastern Council Secretariat yesterday The visit is a part of the ASEAN � India Media Exchange Programme 2015-2017 of Ministry of External Affairs to encourage media exchanges between India and ASEAN countries with an aim to provide exposure to the ASEAN media on contemporary developments of India.
Ameising Luikham, secretary, NEC welcomed the journalists to the NEC Secretariat.
He said that such visits would encourage media exchanges between India and ASEAN countries and open up new areas of cooperation in business and trade, health, education and culture etc.
An introductory presentation on North Eastern States and NEC was made by Adviser (Banking, Industry and Tourism) .
Adviser (Transport and Communication), NEC made a detailed presentation about the potentials and developments of North Eastern Region.
The journalists were briefed about the trade routes between NE India and ASEAN countries.
