Scribes to stay away from press meets

With five new cases taking the State's COVID-19 tally to seven, the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union has reiterated that all reporters/correspondents will not be participating in any press meet called by any individual/organisation for safety reasons.
An emergency joint meeting of the AMWJU and Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) has decided to enforce the resolutions they adopted on March 22 earlier regarding COVID-19 and accordingly all press meet/conference/public gathering at the Manipur Press Club has been banned, said AMWJU in a statement today.
All reporters/correspondents are advised against participating in press meet called by any individual/organisation.
They have been advised against participating in any media tour/pick-up programme for the time being.
All organisations and individuals wishing to hold press meets should send their materials (press release/statement/video clips) through electronic means via mail/WhatsApp to the media houses or at WhatsApp no 8974283214 and e-mail- [email protected], said AMWJU.
All Government press communications may be sent through the Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) or via the above mentioned WhatsApp number and e-mail, it said.
AMWJU also appealed Government health authority to provide list of panel members authorised to speak/participate/give comments in panel discussion programmes on COVID-19 and related issues.
Meanwhile, in a separate press release, AMWJU informed that the last date for submission of membership renewal form has been extended to May 23 .
Those not approved by the AMWJU Membership Screening Committee 2020 may apply again with relevant documents against the reasons for disapproval cited by the committee, it said.
