Discussion on 'Disturbance Free Edn Zone' held

Following a series of mass rallies held at different districts of the State demanding 'Disturbance Free Educational Zone' spearheaded by the Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), the student body along with intellectuals, academicians and organizations today held a panel discussion at DESAM Hqs.
DESAM president M Angamba during a press meet held at DESAM Hqs today laid out the recommendations drawn from today's discussion and declared that July 5 of every year will be known as 'Disturbance Free Education Zone Demand Day'.
The list of recommendations drawn from today's discussion include framing of a farsighted education policy by the State Government which could bring quality education to the State, underground groups and surrendered groups which are in talks with the Central Government and State Government should stop disturbing education sector, education should be exempted from bandhs, blockades and general strikes.
Insurgent groups should not disturb the education sector but rather render help and support to bring 'disturbance free educational zone' in Manipur.
All the CSOs and various other bodies should not demand monetary donations from educational institutes but instead provide support.
People engaged with the education sector should work with responsibility and sincerity and a systematic academic calendar should be framed by the authorities concerned minus the unessential holidays.
Representatives from All Manipur College Teachers Association, Senior (Citizens for Society, CBSE Monitoring Cell, All Manipur Elementary School Teachers Association, All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association, All Manipur Students Guardians Organisation, academicians and intellectuals from different parts of the State were present at the panel discussion held today.
All the representatives agreed to appeal Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and Education Minister M Okendra, Chairman and Central Committee members of various underground groups, leaders of different CSOs and all the people of the State to respect the recommendations drawn today, Angamba stated.
Meanwhile, DESAM expressed its gratitude towards the students, teachers, transporters and all the people who extended their support in the rally which was held on July 2, 3 and 4 at different parts of the State.
