Imphal, March 04 2016 :
Khousabung Sub-Division Demand Committee (KSDDC) has warned of imposing indefinite bandh along Tiddim road from 6 am of March 8 if the State Govt fails to meet its demand before March 7 .
The KSDDC has been demanding renaming the new subdivision of Churachandpur district (erstwhile Thangting subdivision) as Khousabung sub-division with its headquarters at Khousabung as per the wish of the public.
In a statement, the KSDDC said that as the repeated pleas and democratic protests have been deliberately disregarded by the Government, the Committee is now convinced and compelled to intensify its agitation against the State Government.
As such, in pursuance of the resolution adopted at the Mega Rally cum Public Consultation meeting held at Khousabung on February 29, the KSDDC in its meeting held today decided to impose indefinite bandh on Tiddim Road from 6 am of March 8 if the State Government fails to respond to its demands positively by March 7 .
The KSDDC appealed to all organisations concerned to extend support and cooperation in its endeavours to find justice.
The State Government and the local MLA in particular should be held solely responsible for any unwanted outcome.
The Committee also urged all concerned to stop spreading canards aimed at jeopardising the genuine people's movement for justice at the behest of vested individuals.
Meanwhile, the sit-in cum candle light vigil to protest the Cabinet decision of February 10, 2016 which gave approval to change the nomenclature of the new subdivision to 'Kangvai' continues at Khousabung village market shed for the 22nd day today.
