Imphal, October 31 2020:
In commemoration of the October 31, 2018 rally against the Framework Agreement, the United Committee Manipur reiterated its stand against any design to dilute the identity of Manipur during a meeting with its president Sunil Karam, Consultative Committee members H Ibotombi Khuman and L Jadumani as presidium members.
The commemoration today also took several resolutions to strengthen UCM's and people's stand on the Naga issue for a united Manipur.
It reiterated that the peace talk between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) should not threaten or alter the State's integrity, structure, historical, economic and political identity and unity.
The final solution must not include any provision of the likes of Article 371(A) to create any autonomous regional council without consulting the State Government and the people.
The gathering also took the decision to strengthen people's stand against any divisive policy threatening the State's integrity.
At the event, Sunil Karam said that the Government of India should remember the mass movement of October 31, 2018 and not act against the will of the people.
"The talks and the final solution must not contain any agenda that may harm the State's interests.
If Manipur is broken, India will also be broken.
The Manipur Government should also take a strong stand regarding this," he said.
Members of different civil society organisations, and student bodies attended the event.
