AR arrests couple with drugs in Moreh

Imphal, February 24 2024:
Troops of 5 Assam Rifles busted a warehouse (godown) used for stocking of narcotics along with other incriminating items and nabbed a couple and recovered huge cache of contraband drugs from the couple's house located at Homeguard Veng in Moreh at about 1.15pm on Friday.
The nabbed couple identified as Rahque Kutti (49) son of Abdul Jalil and Kutti's wife Zeena are residents of Homeguard Veng, Moreh and contraband drugs worth around Rs 1.2 crore in local market were recovered from the couple's house.
The recovered drugs include 29.799kg WY tablets, 0.386kg Heroin, 5.266kg Cafine, 8.299kg gold dust and 7970 Alrazolam tablets.
According to a police source, large number of local women gathered outside Rahque Kutti's house when news of recovery of contraband drugs was spread and prevented security forces to move out from the area.
However, the 5 AR team informed the situation to SP Tengnoupal and accordingly reinforcement team comprising 25 AR and RAF rushed to the spot and controlled the situation by bringing smoke bombs.
Later, the couple wss handed over to Moreh police station for further necessary action, the source added.
