Imphal, August 20 2021:
Charging Maipakpi Higher Secondary School, Wangkhei, Accent Girls' Academy, Sagolband and Little Flower School, Imphal of transforming educational institutions for profit even in these trying times of Covid-19 pandemic, six students' organisations namely AMSU, MSF, KSA, DESAM, AIMS and SUK have asked the authorities of these private schools to come to their offices for an understanding.
In a joint release, the students' bodies said that some private schools are defying the rate of school fees fixed by government and charging excess fee from students amidst this Covid-19 pandemic.
Such unethical practices are adding to the burden of the already aggrieved people affected by the pandemic, it added.
Maintaining that there have been an increasing number of private schools fleeing parents of ordinary students, the bodies urged the government to look into the matter.
They also expressed suspicion that the government is granting recognition to private schools rather than verifying whether or not they fulfil the standard criteria.
