Imphal, August 31 2016:
Union Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju has stated that the present imbroglio witnessed in Manipur could have been avoided had the State Government conducted the recruitment process of police Constables sincerely.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of BJP today, Kiren Rijiju stated that BJP's involvement in the issue was not driven by any intention to score political mileage.
The party took up the issue as it was a genuine issue of the people.
It was no secret that many candidates sold their paddy fields and even homesteads and offered bribes to Government officials, he asserted The arrest of two BJP leaders was a clear indication of the impending collapse of the Congress Government.
He also accused the Congress Government of misusing huge amounts of funds sanctioned for development purposes.
On the other hand, there has not been a single case about misuse of fund by the Central Government headed by BJP.
The party would be able to write a new history by forming Government in Manipur after the forthcoming State Assembly election, he claimed.
Manipur is still ahead of other North Eastern States in terms of games and sports.
Out of the eight sports persons who took part in the Rio Olympics, six hailed from Manipur, he noted.
The Home Ministry would give awards to these Olympians at New Delhi next month.
Necessary funds would be sanctioned for development of a tourist spot at Rani Gaidinliu's memorial complex located at Nungkao, Tamenglong district, assured Kiren Rijiju who is also the chairman of the Eminent Freedom Fighters Committee.
Earlier speaking at a function held at the BJP office, Kiren Rijiju stated that there were many famous freedom fighters in the North East region.
The Eminent Freedom Fighters Committee of the Government of India has been working to identify all those freedom fighters who were little known outside the region and one of them was Rani Gaidinliu.
