Imphal, June 30 2021:
The fortnight-long protest carried out by Left parties in Manipur including CPI, CPI-M, RSP, AIFB and CPI-ML against hike in prices of fuel culminated at Hiyanglam Awang Leikai on Wednesday.
Speaking on the sidelines, CPI-Manipur secretary L Sotinkumar condemned the act of levying taxes upon the poor people in the name of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
He further condemned the fuel price hike, adding that the government could efficiently provide rice and medicine to the people only after seizing the illegal wealth of the rich and recovering black money.
Demanding the government to lower the fuel prices at the earliest, the secretary cautioned of launching further protests by Left parties in case of failing to do.
In his speech, CPI-M secretary Kshetrimayum Shanta said that the Modi-led NDA government is working against the farming and working-class people.
He then urged all to continue protest against such anti-people government.
The protest was also attended by CPI Thoubal District secretary Elangbam Sarat and N Yaiskul.
