World Press Day observed, award presented

Imphal, May 03 2023: Sahitya Thoupang Lup Manipur organised World Press Day observance at Manipur Press Club here Wednesday, during which the Thiyam Premkumar Award-2023 was presented to editor of Mannaba daily Shyamkishor Keisham.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Poknapham editor Aribam Robindro called upon All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) to observe the day regularly.

He opined that despite the respect earned by journalists from the public, they are still facing various hardships while carrying out their duties.

Keisham consists Rs 10, 000 .

While national press day is observed by the state government, AMWJU and EGM can observe World Press Day, he said.

Thiyam Premkumar Award 2023 presented to editor of Mannaba daily Shyamkishor cash, certificate and shawl.

Manipur Literary Society, Imphal president Nongmaithem Kirankumar and editors, reporters of different media houses as well as several writers also attended the observance.
