DC exhorts inmates to become weavers

Imphal East deputy commissioner Kh Diana on Friday inaugurated a 45-day skill upgradation training programme on handloom under SAMARTH Scheme for the inmates, specifically the weavers staying in the relief camp set up at Ideal College, Akampat.
The training programme is being organised by Weavers' Service Centre (WSC) under the aegis of Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function, DC Diana exhorted the trainees to avail the full benefits of the skill development training programme and become recognised weavers of the Ministry.
Presiding over the function, WSC deputy director Priyadarshi Daripa informed that bio-metric attendance of the trainees will be recorded daily.
Trainees with attendance of over 80 per cent will receive a daily stipend of Rs 300 while those with low attendance will not receive stipend or be eligible to take the assessment test for obtaining the certificate, announced the deputy di rector The function was also attended by District Handlooms and Textiles, Imphal East project manager (Handlooms) Y Ashalata, Thongju Kendra Relief Committee president Sougrakpam Ibobi and Shintha Handlooms and Handicrafts president Sougrakpam Bhubol as guests of honour.
