Assembly must take stand to abrogate SoO: Thawai Mirel

Thawai Mirel has demanded the state government to take a unanimous decision in the upcoming session of Manipur Legislative Assembly to abrogate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) .
In a press meet held at Manipur Press.Club, here, on Saturday, Thawai Mirel co-convenor Paonam Sanahanbi said that the prevailing situation in the state should be the topmost agenda to be discussed in the upcoming session.
The House must pass a resolution to ensure its effectiveness and all CSOs, student bodies and mothers' organisation should extend support to the same at the time.
Additionally, the government must take a firm decision to protect the territorial boundary of the state, failing which unwanted incidents may occur, she cautioned, while requesting all concerned not to object to Thawai Mirel's pursuit for restoration of peace in the state.
Sanahanbi continued said that the overall situation is saddening considering the frequent killings and the sufferings experienced by the displaced people living in the relief camps.
As such, she expressed belief that the upcoming session would see to the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
She further urged for putting an end to the violence perpetrated by Kuki terrorists, and see to the resettlement of the displaced people at the earliest.
Meira Paibi members should also hold their torches high and prepare to take a final stand on the matter, Sanahanbi asserted.
Sanahanbi then mentioned of unwanted incidents that took place on Friday night and condemned the same, while further appealing to the government to help prevent a repeat of such acts in the future.
