Imphal, April 08 2024:
Co-ordination Committee for Crisis Resolution, Manipur has urged the people to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election and cast their votes to save the Indian Constitution, democracy, secularism, federalism and the future of the land.
In a release, convenor 0 Su-matibala Devi recalled that the Committee has been launching movement through staging of protests and submitting memorandum in pursuance of the demand that the government resolve the present crisis, restore peace and normalcy in the state and resettle the people displaced by the conflict.
As the government undermined their demand, a written memorandum with signatures of thousands of people was submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and chief electoral officer Manipur requesting to conduct the election after restoration of peace.
Unfortunately, ECI on March 16 announced the election schedules and enforced the model code of conduct.
The commission also ensured facility for the displaced people staying at relief camps to cast their votes, she conveyed.
Appealing to womenfolk and meira paibis to reconsider their stance of boycotting/non-participation in the election, she exhorted all for bringing about a new change by saving the Indian constitution, democracy, secularism and federalism.
She also appealed to the public to take part and ensure a free and fair election.
