Imphal, December 01 2023: Nupee Lal Memorial Association (NLMA) launched its month-long observance of 84th Nupee Lal at the association's office located at Tera Keithel, here, on Friday.

Floral tributes were paid to women leaders, who led the historic Nupee Lal against the British, on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, association president Waikhom Bormani asserted that Meetei is a community, who values and cherishes freedom and integrity.

Meetei women are known for their courage and patriotism, and Nupee Lal has been a testimony of these courage and patriotism.

The same courage and spirit of patriotism flow in the blood of the present generation, which is evident from the fact that the Meetei women are taking proactive role in defending the peripheral villages and territory of the state from the Kuki militants, she said.

Bormani also informed that the association is preparing to showcase a play on Nupee Lal on the occasion of the 84th Nupee Lal Day observance on December 12 .
