Legal awareness programmes conducted

Under the aegis Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ukhrul conducted a legal awareness webinar on the topic of "Rights of Vulnerable Women: Role of DLSA and Legal Services functionaries in curbing exploitation of women" on Thursday.
During the webinar, High Court of Manipur joint registrar (CPC) Alec Muivah said that poverty is one of the factors behind women becoming victims of human trafficking and prostitution.
While noting that some women even give up their dignity in trying to earn a livelihood, he stressed that DLSAs have a huge role to play in the rehabilitation of such women.
The webinar Was also attended by MASLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum and JMFC Kumari Bineshwori Maibam, judicial officers court staff, panel lawyers PLVs and CSO members.
On the other-hand DLSA, Chandel under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) organised a micro legal services camp at Chanou village in Moreh, Tengnoupal district on Thursday.
During the camp, enrolment and issuance of labour cards to eligible beneficiaries were carried out, along with enrolment for other schemes.
Panel lawyer Rk Morendro informed the beneficiaries about the NALSA legal services apps, which was later followed with distribution of pamphlets on free and competent legal aid.
