Imphal, February 23 2009:
Even as the Wung Tangkhul Region of the NSCN (IM) has expressed shock over the involvement of Lt Col Hopeson Ningshen, the CO of Kinsumong Bn Naga Army in the abduction and killing of the SDO of Kasom Khullen and his tow subordinate staff and urged for speedy disposal of the case, the Naga People's Organisation, Senapati District Students' Association and the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long have questioned the motive of the killers in abducting the three men and later killing them brutally in Senapati district.
In a statement issued to the press, the Chief Administrative Officer of Wung Tangkhul Region of the outfit, V Horam said that the CAO and the Council of Leacys, WTR is extremely shocked with the involvement of Lt Col Hopeson, CO Kinsumong Bn Naga Army in the abduction and brutal killing of SDO Dr Kishan.
Such inhuman killing deserves the most severe punishment, said the CAO and added that the low profile but effective investigation launched out the WTR resulted in the arrest of the persons involved in the case.
As the case has now been taken over by the Central, GPRN, the WTR in emergency meeting held today at 7.30 am has strongly urged for speedy disposal of the case and to initiate strong action.
Meanwhile the Naga People's Organisation during a meeting held today has strongly condemned the brutal killing and questioned the motive of bringing the innocent Government employees to Senapati and murdering them there.
The people of Senapati will never forgive the culprits for such brutal killings and for turning Senapati into a 'blood field,' said NPO in a statement and added that apart from killing them there, the killers had also put a number plate registered with Senapati.
These machinations were meant to bring shame and infamy on Senapati district apart from trying to create communal disharmony, which the people of Senapati can never forgive.
NPO further said that it shares the grief and pain of the bereaved family members of the SDO and his two subordinate staff, who were killed by cadres of the NSCN (IM), Lt Col Hopeson Ningshen, Town Commander of Ukhrul Apho Sibo and Major Ashang.
The NPO also demanded that the culprits be handed over to the State Government and to award them fitting punishment.
Echoing the same sentiment the Senapati District Students' Association has announced that it would close down all Government/Private offices and educational institutions at the district tomorrow.
In a statement, the student body said that the decision was taken during an emergency Executive Council Meeting at its head office at Senapati district headquarters today.
Taking serious note of the way in which the barbaric killing was committed at Senapati after the three men were abducted from Ukhrul, the student body questioned why the number plate of the slain SDO was changed to a number belonging to an innocent person from Senapati.
Taking the facts into consideration, SDSA concludes that the perpetrators of the crime were intent on creating communal tension between the people of Senapati district and the valley brethren, said the statement.
The student body has also appealed to the State Government and the authority concerned to speed up the investigation and book the individuals or organisations responsible for the inhuman act and to give them befitting punishment according to the law of the land.
SDSA also urged the authority concerned to maintain transparency and to impartially judge all those involved in the inhuman killing.
Pitching in the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long in a statement has said that the very act of abducting the three men and later killing them at Senapati is nothing but a ploy to tarnish the relationship between the people of the two districts.
The killing of the three men is also a ploy to whip up communal frenzy between the hill and valley people, said TMNL.
Communalising the issue will be detrimental to all and it would be immature to accuse a particular community for the act, when every rational being abhor and condemn such atrocities and barbaric acts, said the statement.
TMNL also appealed to all peace loving people, cutting across community lines to come forward openly so as to put an end to such atrocities.
The Long also urged the Government to book the culprits and give them befitting punishment and deliver justice to the people and acknowledged the restraining role played by some civil society organisations to improve communal harmony in the State.
