O Ibobi meets PM, Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, January 11 2013: State Chief Minister O Ibobi who arrived here yesterday met Congress President Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath at 11 am today.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Defence Minister AK Antony and Political Secretary to Congress President Ahmed Patel were also present at the meeting.

The meeting was a high level political meet, said sources.

It is said that the meeting did not discuss any agenda which may go against the interest of Manipur.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reportedly urged the Finance Minister to release pending plan amount of the State with the latter assuring that an amount of over Rs 1000 crore for various irrigation projects would be released at the earliest.

Ibobi, who called on the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh this evening, is also scheduled to meet Shinde tomorrow afternoon during which talks would centre on the ongoing dialogue between the Centre and NSCN (IM) .

On the otherhand, officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs confided that there was no official appointment schedule of the CM and the Union Home Minister today.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India announced dates for election for Tripura on February 14, Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 23, and counting on February 28 .
