Governor visits Chandel district headquarters

Governor Vinod Kumar Duggal was visibly upset on seeing the deplorable infrastructure and interacting with incompetent Government employees during his maiden visit to Chandel district headquarters.
The Governor was accompanied by Chandel MLA Nunghlung Victor and Works Principal Secretary Ram Muivah.
The team visited the District Hospital, District Sports Complex, Autonomous District Council office and Mini Secretariat building.
Interacting with the people of the district, VK Duggal said that he chose to visit the district by road as he wanted to experience how people are suffering due to bad road conditions.
The Governor said that he decided to visit the district only after Government sanctions fund for the construction of district headquarters road.
And the Government has now sanctioned Rs 12 crore for the said purpose, he added.
At Chandel District Hospital, the Governor enquired CMO Chandel about the working condition of the hospital and other inconveniences being faced by the medical staff.
Constructions are currently going on at 100-bedded District Hospital.
Contractors assured the Governor that construction of the hospital would be completed by October month.
At District Sports Complex, the Governor enquired on the reason for delay in the completion of the complex.
The Governor was disappointed while visiting the office of Autonomous District Council on learning that some staff were not attending office regularly.
The Governor was even more disappointed when he interacted with the District Level Officers at the Amity Hall as one of the officers who was posted in the district some three months back could not give the name of the river which is used as a water source.
The Governor also interacted with village chiefs and civil organization leaders.
