Ukhrul, August 03 2021:
Throwing his back behind the demand for a separate flag and Constitution to pave the way for a final settlement of the peace talk between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India, Dr YL Mingthing former Director of Tangkhul Theological Association (TTA), Ukhrul said any solution without a separate flag and Constitution is not acceptable.
This would amount to betraying the letter and spirit of the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, he added Dr YL Mingthing asserted this stand while addressing the 6th anniversary of the Framework Agreement held at TNL Hall.
Without going into specifics, Dr Mingthing said that some important points are not on the agenda of the ongoing talks and added that the process has been stalled because of the attitude of the Indian Government which amounts to suppression of the inherent rights of Naga people.
The two entities (NSCN-IM and Indian Government) had mutually agreed to resolve the Naga political issue by respecting the unique identity and history of the Nagas, which paved the way for the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, he added.
He also mentioned on the competencies that have been sorted out for final settlement.
However GoI started to engage in talks with other parties which is a clear indication of its insincerity towards resolving the Naga political issue.
