Imphal, October 31 2015 :
MPP has pledged support to BJP candidates in the forthcoming by-election to Thangmeiband and Thongju Assembly constituencies.
Briefing media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office this evening, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba claimed that MPP, one of the oldest regional political parties of the country, has given assurance in black and white to support BJP in the forthcoming by-election which is deemed as the first battle to uproot the corrupted Congress Government.
BJP Manipur Pradesh is thankful to MPP for their support and MPP is one party which always stand against corruption since its establishment, Chaoba said.
During the past 13 years of their rule, the Congress Government did nothing worthwhile for the people of Manipur.
There is no sign of administration in the hill districts.
Apart from funds sanctioned for plan and non-plan requirements, funds sanctioned for the underprivileged sections have been swindled.
The upcoming by-election is a battle to throw out the corrupted Congress Government, Chaoba asserted.
BJP would adopt many slogans for its election campaign and most of them would revolve around the central theme "Let's uproot Congress party and elect BJP to power" .
MPP president N Sova-kiran who was also present at the press meet pledged that MPP would extend full support to the two candidates fielded by BJP.
Since its inception, MPP espoused regionalism and it always opposed the policies and programmes of Congress party, Sovakiran said.
The 130 year old Congress party's history can be divided into two chapters viz; pre-independence and post-independence.
In the post-independence period, Congress party started deviating from their own ideology and philosophy.
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill once said, "We are here to rule the Indians, not to serve them", and this is exactly what the Congress party has been translating into action.
Just as the British colonial rulers exploited natural resources and took away all the revenue to England, the Congress party has been exploiting natural resources and people's wealth only to be deposited in different trusts established in the name of Gandhi dynasty, Sovakiran said.
Meanwhile, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar has categorically stated that it was Congress party, not BJP which conspired to disintegrate Manipur.
The first Congress leader who conspired to disintegrate Manipur was Rishang Keishing.
When Rishang Keishing who became the Chief Minister of Manipur openly supported the Naga integration movement when he was a leader of the United Naga Integration Council (UNIC) about 40 years back.
The UNIC led by Rishang Keishing was merged into INC on August 4, 1972 .
After Rishang Keishing, 13 Congress leaders including incumbent Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, RD&PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa and MLA DK Korungthang signed a declaration on May 27, 2005 which endorsed the demand for Naga integration.
These facts are known to all political analysts, Ashnikumar said.
Asking when and where BJP ever worked to disintegrate Manipur, Ashnikumar claimed that BJP is always committed to safeguard integrity of Manipur.
After the June 2001 mass movement, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee declared in the Parliament that Manipur's territorial integrity would not be compromised, he added.
