Jiribam, August 20 2021:
Customers of the lone nationalised bank in Jiribam namely Punjab National Bank (PNB) are facing inconvenience in withdrawal and deposit of money as the bank has been operating with limited staff and opens only two counters.
The bank opens from 10am but customers normally line up in front of the bank from as early as 6am to deposit and withdraw money.
As the bank opens only two counters due to lack of staff, the long queue of customers extends beyond Irabot statue along NH-37 from the building of the bank.
Apart from Jiribam public, the bank has customers from Assam as well.
Shortage of staff and opening of only two counters could not accommodate large number of customers and this compels customers to line .up in front of the bank from early morning to complete their transaction.
Opening of the bank for only three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday due to COVID-19 restriction is also one main reason for heavy rush at the bank as three days transaction in a week could not entertain the large number of customers.
Meanwhile, some concerned customers of the bank have drawn immediate attention of officials of the bank for making an arrangement at the earliest for easing their inconveniences.
The bank provides service to wide range of customers including job card holders, old age pensioners, government pensioners, government employees and employees of private companies.
