PLFPC produces 2 MT mustard seed

Imphal, May 03 2023: Farmers of Progressive Langmeidong Farmer Producer Company (PLFPC) Limited have been successful in growing mustard crop this year with projected harvest of mustard seeds at 2 metric tons (MT) .

In a release, Clover Organic Pvt Ltd, Imphal state head Ng Molarhring Monsang informed that PLFPC Limited, Langmeidong Bazar in Kakching district was formed and incorporated in September, 2021 under the Central Sector Scheme Formation and Promotion of 10, 000 FPCs implemented by North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) and Clover Organic Pvt Ltd as the service provider.

Although faced with many challenges during its inception, the hard-working farmers under the FPC never stepped back but laboured day and night to bring forward the FPC.

During such hard times, Hiyanglam MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam provided 60 kg of mustard seeds to its farmer members in January.

The release also mentioned that there were huge challenges in terms of cost of cultivation, irrigation, etc.

Nevertheless, the farmers toiled and the outcome harvest is projected to be 2 MT.

With such estimates, the farmers are hopeful of producing mustard oil that can be sold for a good price with proper bottling and labelling, it further conveyed.
