Imphal, December 01 2023:
Stating that fulfilling wishes of the people is the primary objective of Manipur People's Party (MPP), its president Yengkokpam Priyokumar has said that the party has the ability to realise the wishes and urged the people to be the high command of the party.
Addressing a press meet at MPP's office located near Polo Ground, here, on Friday, Priyokumar said that after a brief dispute, MPP is ready to work and strengthen the party for the sake of the people.
He continued that the party has, in the past, put the wishes of the people into action, some of which had been impossible for BJP, Congress or any other national party.
Thus, he urged the people to lead the party in protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur along with other aspects.
Further stating that the MPP will not wait for the Delhi s nod on every matter, he said that the party would soon make it clear within a week to the public who traded the state's territorial integrity.
He then remarked that it was unfortunate to see the state's MPs remaining silent over the conflict situation, which has been raging for around seven months.
MPP Will be fielding a candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, he added.
Later, returning officer K Muktasana handed over election certificate to the newly elected MPP president, while ex-minister Bijoy Koijam of Thongju assembly constituency was formally appointed as working president.
