"Dry Tears" pays tribute to martyrs

The atmosphere at Kumecs Cinema in Imphal was charged with anticipation as the grand premiere of Khwairakpam Bishwamittra's short film, "Dry Tears," unfolded on Wednesday paying tributes to those martyrs, who lost their lives in the current crisis the state has been facing since the last one year.
The premiere show was attended by Mani pur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) secretary Sanzu Bachaspatimayum, and Film Forum Manipur president L Surjakanta as chief guest and president respectively while RK Hemabati Devi and Alexander Leo Pou attended as guests of honour.
The film, produced by Sarungbam Haripyari Devi and released under the banner of Millennium Force, Manipur, on May 1, pays homage to those who lost their lives during the ethnic crisis that erupted in the state on May 3 last year.
Written and directed by Bishwamittra, "Dry Tears" captures the emotional turmoil and resilience of individuals affected by the conflict in a succinct runtime of 22 minutes.
The cast includes Ningthoujam Rina, Rajkumari Romila, Robindro Kshetri, and others, with L Mohendro of KAMS as editors, Haobijam Mahesh as director of photography, Nanao Sagolmang as composer, art, makeup, and costumes by Ragini and Premika, and lighting by Brojen Light while Singhajit and Premjit are production managers.
"Dry Tears" processed at KAMS, Khoyathong, is supported by The Morning Bell, an English daily, and TMB Digital Network.
The film serves not only as a creative endeavour but also as a powerful tribute to the resilience and spirit of the people of the state in the face of adversity.
