Dy CM calls upon Rongmei mothers to prevail upon anti-social elements

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Friday called upon Rongmei mothers to prevail upon the anti- social elements that are trying to block development in Zeliangrong areas and pointed out that mothers have a great responsible in bringing development.
Inaugurating the decadal 4th Women Conference of Rongmei Naga Baptist Association hosted by Longmai-III Baptist Church at Longmai common ground, Gaikhangam said that the state government is trying hard to bring development in Zeliangrong areas.
However, many anti-social elements have been disturbing the development works.
He appealed to Rongmei mothers to prevail upon these anti-social elements so as to change their mindset.
While praising Rongmei women who come to participate in the conference, the Deputy Chief Minister said that women are the silent builders.
A good mother makes a good family and good family makes a good society and a good society in turn makes a strong nation.
"When we are tired and exhausted, we called out for our mothers! Your prayer will not go wasted, pray more and become good mothers", Gaikhangam said.
Remembering Ranima Gaidinliu on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said Ranima was jailed for opposing the British rule.
Recognising her as a freedom fighter, the government of India conferred the title of Rani on Gaidinliu.
Gaikhangam observed that this year is a blessed year for the Rongmeis as Ranima's birth centenary was observed and the Government of India has printed Ranima's picture on Rs 100 currency note as well as on Rs 5 coins.
Earlier the Government of India had brought out a stamp in honour of Ranima, he added.
Themthing Ngasangva, IPS, Superintendence of Police; Kajaigai, MCS, SDO Nungba; Hannah Kamei, MCS SDO Tamei and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Out of 183 churches under Rongmei Naga Baptist Association, delegates from as many as 153 churches from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland are taking part in the conference.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao on the sidelines of the conference, Thuankubui Pamei, President of Rongmei Naga Council (AMN), has said that Rongmei Naga Baptist Association is a part of Rongmei Naga Council.
Rongmei Naga Council is not to break the Zeliangrong cognate tribes of Zeme, Liangmei and Rongmei, but to build a strong Zeliangrong community.
