Imphal, June 25 2014:
A day-long 2nd Special Awareness Programme on the theme 'Upliftment of Backward & Needy People & Settlement of Manipuri Muslim (Meitei Pangal) & their Contribution in the Soil of Manipur' was organized jointly by Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO) and All Manipur Muslim Development Organization (AMMDO) at Bengoon Community Hall on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion as a Resource Person, KT Rehman, advisor of All Manipur United Clubs' Organization (AMUCO), said that the integrity of the State cannot be compromised at all, hence the organization will not accept the demand for Alternative Arrangement for Nagas raised by United Naga Council (UNC) at the behest of NSCN (IM) .
He pointed out that Manipur is inhabited by different ethnic groups in harmony since time immemorial and AMUCO has been working for strengthening the cordial relationships amongst these groups with the belief that peace and harmony should be maintained in the State.
Asserting that a special arrangement cannot be made in order to appease a particular group by putting the integrity of the State at stake, Rehman called upon the people to stand together to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur which is under threat from certain sections which are hell-bent on destabilizing the peace and harmony in the State.
Md Nashir Ahamad, secretary of AMMDO, said that it has become necessary to understand by all sacrifices made by Manipuri Muslims in the past for the State.
The history of any particular community in a multi-cultural society needs to be shared and respected by all.
