Gaikhangam for strengthening ADCs

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has appealed to the people to strengthen the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) for development of the State's hill areas.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the reception function of the newly elected Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Tamenglong Autonomous District Council held at the auditorium of Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Chingmeirong here yesterday.
Gaikhangam further said that many anti-social elements are hindering the effective functioning of ADCs in the hill districts.
The ADC elections were held in the State after a gap of 20 years.
The ADC members must strive to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
Deputy Chief Minister also ruled out of any adverse impact to the State Government due to the formation of BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.
The reception function organized by Tamei-Tousem Block Congress was also attended by Vice-Chairman of Hill Areas Committee Z Kikhonbou, ex-MLA A Kathuang and other members of ADCs.
The newly elected Chairman Humaliya Bou and Vice-Chairman Jino Kamei were presented gifts by the dignitaries during the occasion.
