SSSC appeals to review of MHC directive

Imphal, November 04 2015:
Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign (SSSC) appealed the Meghalaya High Court to review on the Courts direction on imposing of Armed Forces Special Power Act, 1958 in the Garo Hills.
In a statement, SSSC Convener Ravi Nitesh stated that SSSC is continuously raising voice to repeal AFSPA from North East and Jammu & Kashmir in last many years.
On November 1 and November 2 the SSSC along with other organisations organised a Convention on Repeal AFSPA at New Delhi and sit in protests at various other many cities in India.
SSSC further appealed the civil society organisations and political leaders to come forward to review the court directions and not to make AFSPA victims to the common people.
Meanwhile, sand sculpture in solidarity with Irom Sharmila';s struggle for Repeal AFSPA was made by famous sand artist Himanshu Shekhar Parida at Cuttack, Odisha.
This was made on the call of Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign where the campaign is observing a nationwide protest to mark 15 years of completion of hunger protest of Irom Sharmila.
Himanshu is a young artist and trained in fine arts with his passion in sand sculptures.
He is also associated with various voluntary activities for social cause and has volunteered for Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign.
