Thoubal, April 08 2024:
With the 18th Lok Sabha election drawing nearer, election campaign activities are reaching a fever pitch in the state.
Indian National Congress candidate for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, Prof Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, intensified his campaign in various localities of Thoubal district on Monday.
Prof Bimol conducted campaign activities in Thoubal Haokha, Charangpat, and Yairipok Bishnunaha under Wangkhem assembly constituency.
In a meeting held at MPCC president MLA K Meghachandra's Yairipok Bishnunaha residence, Prof Bimol emphasised the significance of the upcoming election in determining the state s future, especially in the light of the current ethnic crisis plaguing the state for more than 11 months.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Bimol attributed the crisis to external forces colluding with internal elements and stressed the importance of electing a representative capable of amplifying the voice of the people on the political platform.
He urged voters to exercise their franchise freely and judiciously, cautioning against succumbing to inducements or coercion.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Meghachandra lambasted the BJP-led government, accusing it of exacerbating the crisis and neglecting the welfare of the people.
He criticised the government for its alleged incompetency, which, according to him, led to widespread suffering and discontent among the populace.
Meghachandra highlighted the absence of ruling MLAs and ministers during times of crisis, further denouncing their failure to convene an emergency assembly session.
In response, Prof Bimol positioned himself as the antidote to the BJP's alleged incompetency, urging the public to support the Congress party in the upcoming election.
