Imphal, June 30 2021:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Tengnoupal district has taken exception to an objection raised by 'some vested interests' with regard to the state cabinet's decision of setting up of the 11th IRB headquarters at Saivom village.
In a press release on Wednesday, KSO Tengoupal, while thanking the chief minister and his cabinet ministers for approving establishment of the 11th IRB headquarters at Saivom village, expressed dismay over the manner in which some vested interests, who claimed in some local media to be speaking on behalf of Aimol Tribe Union, Aimol Students' Union and Aimol Women's Union, are trying to create misunderstanding between communities who have nothing to do with the cabinet's decision.
KSO pointed out that since creation of Tengnoupal district, successive deputy commissioners have surveyed the land for the said purpose (site for the IRB headquarters) in consultation with the chief of Saivom village as the geographical area of the proposed site falls under the jurisdiction of Saivom and the same was sent by the DC concerned for cabinet's approval.
The students' body then questioned the need for consulting 'Aimols' who, it said, are residing in the plain foothills of villages like Twisomjang, Moldenphai and Phaichambung which share a boundary with Saivom village, adding that there are no Aimol villages in the hills.
While appealing all not to 'hinder cabinet decision', KSO Tengnoupal urged the state government to not only construct 11th IRB headquarters at Saivom village but also take up various infrastructure development projects in Tengnoupal district as required for a district.
