Special polling stations for IDPs in Imphal East notified

Imphal, April 08 2024:
Pursuant to earlier letter of the Election Commission of India regarding the "Scheme for Internally Displaced Persons of Manipur to vote in Relief Camps" for the election to 18th Lok Sabha, District Election Officer (DEO), Imphal East has appointed two Designated Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and nine special polling stations for displaced people living in relief camps within the district.
According to a notification issued recently, Imphal East additional DC/ CEO Dr N Johnson has been appointed as Designated ARO for Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and ADC/PD, DRDA RK Dayananda for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
The notification also informed that nine Special Polling Stations have been identified to enable all eligible Internally Displaced (ID) voters staying in the relief camps to exercise their right to vote in the Lok Sabha Election 2024 .
As per the arrangements for Inner Manipur PC, Urup Higher Secondary School (Northern Wing) polling station is reserved for the IDP electors living in relief camps of OBC Girls Hostel, Urup, and Andro Scheduled Caste Girls' Hostel, Andro Loupaochum; Biramangol College, Sawombung PS for IDPs at Biramangol College, and Temporary Shelter Homes, Sawombung Campus relief camps; CHC Nongada PS for IDPs at Community Health Centre, Nongada relief camp; Temporary Shelter Home, Sajiwa Central Jail Complex, Kitchen No 4 PS for IDPs at 1 .
Temporary Shelter Home, Sajiwa Central Jail Complex, Social Integrity Boys Association (SIBA), Heingang Awang Thong, Wangkhei High School, Government Dance College, Palace Compound, and Chingmeirong Upper Primary School relief camps; and Yambem Girls' Hostel, Yairipok Yambem PS for IDPs at 1 .
Yambem PHC Quarter, Yambem High School Boarding, Ramananda High School Hostel, Angtha, Laimanai Youth Club; and Temporary Shelter at Yambon Muthak Leikai relief camps.
For Outer Maipur PC, NEILIT Akampat PS is reserved for IDP electors living at Ideal Girls' College, Akampat relief camps; CC Higher Secondary School PS for IDPs at SIBA, Heingang Awang Thong, Wangkhei High School, Government Dance College, Palace Compound; Veterinary Guest House, Porompat, and Chingmeirong Upper Primary School relief camps; Temporary Shelter Homes, Sawombung Kitchen No 4 PS for IDPs at Temporary Shelter Homes, Imphal East ICD Block Sawombung Campus; and Urup Higher Secondary School PS for IDPs at OBC Girls Hostel Urup, and Andro Schedule Caste Girls Hostel, Andro Loupaochum relief camps.
The Special Polling Stations have been identified also to enable the eligible electors not staying in relief camps but otherwise staying with relatives/friends within the jurisdiction of Imphal East District, the notification specified, and advised all eligible specified voters either staying in relief camps or with relatives/friends within Imphal East district to submit duly filled in ID form to the AROs of the parliamentary constituency concerned.
The displaced voters opting for the Special Polling Stations are also informed to collect the prescribed ID Form from, the ARO concerned, Relief Camp Nodal Officer concerned or download the same from the district website www.imphaleast.nic.in.
The filled-in forms can be submitted by the individual or head of the family/senior member to the Camp Nodal Officer concerned or to the offices of the AROs concerned on or before 4 PM of April 9, it added.
