Imphal, March 22 2015:
Tribal Development Council Manipur (TDCM) has cautioned that they would initiate different forms of democratic agitation if the authorities of Ukhrul branches of State Bank of India (SBI) and United Bank of India (UBI) fail to release the PMEGP fund meant for the beneficiaries of Ukhrul district for the financial year 2014-15 within 10 days.
In a statement, TDCM said that the lackadaisical response and implicit silence maintained for a considerable period of time by the authorities of the two banks despite repeated approach and appeal has compelled the Council to raise its voice in favour of the beneficiaries.
The unnecessary administrative negligence and nonchalant response of the two banks is tantamount to blockage of development activities in the district, the statement added.
These banks are subjugating the employment opportunities generated by implementing agencies like KVIC, KVIB and DIC, the statement further said.
