Imphal, September 06 2018:
The Centre for Research and Advocacy, Manipur (CRA Manipur), Citizens Concerns for Dams and Development (CCDD) and the Committee on the Protection of Natural Resources in Manipur (CPNRM), submitted a joint memorandum to the Governor, the Chief Minister and the Acting Chairman of the Manipur Human Rights Commission yesterday appealing for promotion and protection of human rights defenders in Manipur.
A joint press release issued by the three associations yesterday expressed concern over the threat and harassment meted out to environmentalist and human rights defenders of Manipur, particularly the arbitrary summon of Jiten Yumnam, secretary, Centre for Research and Advocacy, Manipur and a well known environmentalist and human rights defender, on August 13 by police commandos at Imphal West police commando complex without furnishing any written or legal documents.
