Legal awareness programme

A one day legal awareness programme was held at Singjamei Chingamathak Pishum Hao Ground yesterday.
Relief Centre for Welfare of the Differently Abled Persons, Manipur under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Service Authority organised the programme which aimed at making people aware about the legal consequence of committing crime against mentally disabled persons and implementation of poverty alleviation scheme.
Dr RK Kumarjit Singh, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Manipur, Ph Gopendro Singh, president Relief Centre for Welfare of the Differently Abled Persons, Bimolchand Ningombam, Editor Phijigi Manigilaktagi, Ng Rana Singh, president CYLC, Chingamathak and N Tomba Singh, specialist, KVK Thoubal attended the programme as presidium members.
Advocate Th Premlata, Assistant Director Human Rights Law Network and Advocate Khuraijam Kanta spoke at the event as resource persons.
Speaking at the event, Th Premlata said that denying education to girl child and keeping wives for household works only can also be rated as crime against women/children.
She highlighted the various crimes committed against women, said a statement of Bikram Mayengbam, programme consultant Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur.
